About this Event
On June 19th at 12:00 noon PenaltyBox Foundation founder Drew Laine will set off on a 75 mile walk to raise money for the PenaltyBox Foundation. Most of the Foundation’s 2020 fundraisers have been interrupted or cancelled by Covid-19 and Drew has decided to put himself out there and raise money for the foundation with this daunting challenge.
The walk begins at the William A. Connell Skating Rink in Weymouth, MA, continues through 12 different towns, and passes iconic landmarks such as the Powder Point Bridge, Plymouth Rock, and the Cape Cod Canal. It stops at 7 different skating rinks on the South Shore that the Foundation supports, and finishes at the Tabor Academy rink where Drew played high school hockey for Old Rochester.
Since 2018 the PenaltyBox Foundation, a 501c3 nonprofit, has been supporting the North American hockey community through microgrants and donations to hockey families and organizations in need. In April the Foundation facilitated the purchase of 1200 SPARX Face Shields for medical personnel battling Covid-19. The Foundation strives to do everything it can to keep people in the game and help them recover from catastrophic events in their lives. 100% of money raised on this walk goes directly to helping members of the hockey community.
